normally, it never goes past noon. Lately where it's been triple digits for days on straight, it will be 1 or 2 needle widths to the right of noon, in 35mph stop and go city traffic.

But just like that night, when I get out of work and it's 96, 98, 100 degrees ambient, it'll be maybe 30-45 seconds after startup, and it'll already be at noon. But I've never heard the clutch fan engage due to heat, except when the gauges light came on at the concert.
O by the way during the summer, try running some "Wetter Water" it increases the boiling point of water, and allows your cooling system to cool better. Its a chemical reaction.

also try running 3 gallons of Distilled water, and then fill up the rest with 50/50 and add 2 bottles of the Wetter Water. Water alone cools better then coolant, better heat transfer. You can run as low as 15% 50/50 coolant and the rest Distilled water, and you will be fine, only reason to run 50/50 is so it does not freeze.

I am watching a couple on ebay just monitoring the going rate. Each for around $75'ish total. Someone needs to do the full write up including pictures. I may take on this task when I finally get ahold of a fan and the dc controller that User shared. I have seen info on it before.

ebay search: http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trk...All-Categories

Some results: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Tauru...Q5fAccessories

They all have the shroud. Make sure you're looking for the 3.8L fan. The 3.0L was a dual setup and not the same thing.

You might beat me to this project as I want to give the cooling system a thorough flushing first.

I've been seaching ebay for a week now. I hate to spend 60.00 for one when I can get one for 15.00 just they didnt have any. I've also been seaching couple ford forum sites hoping to find a part out. I hope to have one within a week or 2.

I am pretty much just waiting to come across a cheap price to scoop one up. I have some local yards that I can call as well. I have just been sidetracked.

I called one of my local parts recyclers and they will pull a 3.8L efan for me. Total is $40 and they will make an effort to preserve as much of the wiring harness as possible.

My question is for User, What are the big pros and cons between the FK50P and just the plain jane 2 speed controller for $80.

It says that the 2 speed is made specifically for the 2 speed ford fans. Will the FK50P cut down on the spike of amps right as it turns on since it slowly speeds it up? I'm just trying to decide for sure which one to go with.

If I do go with the FK50P, would I just wire it to the high input of the fan and let it do it's variable speed currents on the high circuit?

**edit** I shot them an email over at dccontrol just to confirm this and to ask whether it was a better choice over the standard 2 speed relay they offer. I'll go with whichever one is better for my application with the 2 speed taurus fan.
