Default What is this, where does it go?

Today, I noticed a couple of wire hanging down under my truck in the parking lot at school.

They don't look like anything I've ever seen. Any ideas on what they are? They're just hanging loose over the transmission X-member, not tied to any loom or anything.

Both have caps, One is 6 wires, i didn't count the other. They don't really look like they could plug into eachother, with the caps removed. Given their location, I'm almost having to wonder if they're for a transfer case or something???

2001 extended cab, 3.9 V6 2wd

On a related note, i never found out where this ground goes:

We need one of the 3.9L guys to chip in here! My engine bay is way different than yours so I am not sure what that ground is for. Is there something not working (that'd be too easy)? Same goes for the random wires hanging down in the back...

nope, everythign works as usual, other than having the engine light on. The key-three-times used to work though, now it doesn't. I need to have AZ scan it to see if any new codes came up other than the charcoal canister.

They don't look like they plug into your trans? Or go to and O2 sensor? That is what comes to mind at first. It's tough to tell with out actually looking under there.

That was my first thought, but I didn't see anything blantantly obvious. Keeping in mind I've had the trans out of the truck twice in 8 months, That was my initial thought. But the fact that they have the caps on them is what puzzles me. I'll take better pictures tomorrow.

One of those harnesses has all yellow wires. That makes me think that it isn't apart of a factor wiring schematic (which typically have color coded wires). Perhaps the previous owner had some accessories that are no longer there. Or perhaps it was an option that a dealer added/removed?

it has dodge/OE-style interconnects, the 2 tabs, one on each side, that you have to splay out to pull the cap off. I'll see if I can get some beter pictures. But they're right there next to the tailshaft, and hang down about 6 more inches. But they don't quite reach the charcoal canister.

On the topic of the ground, have you figured out where the other end goes? Sometimes those darn looms are more trouble for making it hard to follow wires!

no I haven't. I'm just curious because there aren't any loose bolts anywhere within it's reach.
