Hey all, new here with questions
Alright, cleaned IAC, searched for the thread on checking TPS voltage and got NOTHING, replaced the crank sensor. It started up and ran just fine for 2 days then today it when and did it's stupid crap all over again. It acts like it's not getting fuel but when you push the gas down a bit it'll start up and stay running unless you let your foot off the accelerator, then it shuts off again. Checked some grounds and they were all clean and tight......how many grounds does this stupid thing have? Bought a Haynes (yuck) manual for it and read through it a bit. Said the PCV valve could cause this so i went ahead and paid the 3 dollars for it. I've got the waterleaks all buttoned up but that is pretty damn useless with a truck that won't friggin run. Sorry if anyone got offended by this posting. I'm more than a little irritated.
to check the tps, get a volt meter and back probe the connections i think its the one closes to the fire wall and the middle one. turn the key to the on position and slowly open the throttle body, there should be a smooth curve in voltage and no jumping around or dead spots.
Alroght, checked the TPS, reading .60v at close and 3.8 at wide open. Thoughts? All the crappy Haynes manual gave me was "approximately" blah blah blah. Got suspicious about the alternator but checked it and all is well there.....
MAP sensor is on the front of the throttle body....the haynes (yuck X2) gives the tolerances and readings....
weird that it wasn't the crankshaft position sensor....
also, not throwing codes could mean its the processor itsself? that would suck....
low spark would throw a mis-fire code....maybe check fuel pressure.....shoot, don't know what to tell you....
