Default Dilemmas dilemmas

So! heres the issue. I took my truck to the mechanic for a seemingly innocent check engine light...well it wasn't so innocent.

Situation- two burnt valves on the passenger side about $1200 to fix. However, this means that the other side could be just as bad AND the engine block looked bad. My question to all you fine ladies and gentlemen is what should I do now. I dont know how much it would be for a new engine but I dont want to drop $3000 into a truck only worth $3500. But I need a car and don't have the $ for a new car. So should I patch it and sell it or pony up and put in a new motor?

im not sure where u are located but i will have an 01 V6 that i will no longer need i would be more then willing to sell it to u it only has 50,000 miles on it
before i take the motor out i would obv let u hear and see it running if you want i could even do the motor swap for u and dispose of the old motor

but the biggest problem is im not sure where u are located i am in ny about 40 min from NYC

YOu have the V6 in it?

YOu doing the work yourself?

I would swap in a new motor, no question. It isn't that bad, and worth it IMO.

The issue is I'm at school right now and dont have access to any tools. I'm thinking I'm going to rent a trailer and tow it home till I can replace the motor myself maybe drop in a v8...

Do a 5.2 or a 5.9 and your truck will come to life. I dont know how the junk yards are up there but at my pick you pull it yard they charge 250 for engine and 150 for tanny.

I wish it was only $250! I'd take 5 haha. Junkyards near me seem to think they have gold in their yards but I'm still going to take a look at some. If they're around $700 though i think I'd rather just buy a remanned one so I don't inherit more problems...
