This is what I get from it your 97 5.2 takes 30min to warm up the theromostat or the cold air intake. I dont know what cai has to do with it or even if thats what you ment. I work off infomation as we all do on this site the more you can provide the more we can help. Is this 30min of idling or driving? and by warm up do you mean the engine coolent temp or the cab heat?

sorry about that yes my 97 dodge dakota takes about 30 minutes to warm up i start and let it idle for about 10 minutes and the coolant temp is says still cold and the heat inside is cold. it warms up after i drive it for a bit. The top and bottom radiator hoses are both the same to the touch one is not colder than the other as far as i can tell so my question is could it be a bad thermostat or my cold air intake cause it to take so long to warm up

If I let mine sit and idle in 40f degree weather it will take about 20 min to reach temp. If I start it cold and drive it in the same weather it will reach temp in about 5-10min. After its all warmed up what is your temp at and do you got hot air in the cab when its warmed up?

i always let my engine warm up before i turn on any heat cause it won't come out hot anyway. then my engine warms up quicker and i have heat sooner.

replacing the clutch fan with an electric fan will help it warm up quicker. the e-fan wont turn on at start up.
