Question front end mystery.

my 98 dak is making a grinding from what seems like the passenger side when i make left turns (and sometimes while going straight). also its a little more pronounced when in 4wd. now today i replaced the cv halfshaft after seeing a hole in the inner boot. no difference. there doesn't seem to be any noise from the bearing. any ideas?

ball joints and tie rod seem fine, im starting to think it might be the hub and bearing assembly, and of course that was the one part we couldn't get off when replacing the shaft. on that note, i was searching for hub and bearings and all the ones i could find had the abs wheel speed sensors and i don't have them. could i still use it and not hook up the sensor?

Most likely your hub assembly, That was my issue when I had a grinding noise like that. 3 bolts on the back side, Mine was rusted in so bad it took almost 3 hours of straight beating and using a chisel to get it to break free.

You have everything off right? 3 bolts and axle nut? You need a bfh and a chisel. Star by just pounding on the part thats rust welded to the knuckle after about 10 min get your HD chisel and start working your way the whole way around it and after some effort and couple of swear words it will break free.
