You might get biased results here, but go with the Dakota. GM/Chevy's are known to be unreliable. We had a Chevy (pretty much brand new) and only had problems with it...

Always get the biggest motor available. If you get the chubby, get the 5.3. The 5.9 is an awesome engine, the torque is just great in these little trucks. I'm really surprised at how fast the needle sweeps from 70-90+.

I don't know that the chevies are any less reliable though. Do you want a big truck or a little one? My '96 bronco fit in my garage, but I either had to fold a mirror flat or baby it through with about 2" on either side, the Dakota would fit just fine.

There's no comparison between an R/T and that bowtie.

A stocker? About 4.5 seconds if you can control the wheelspin. I was under 4 seconds with this. 60 foot 1.73 (before the 4.10 rear) on drag radials. 1.81 on R-SA's @ 19 psi. 1100 stall launch. A stocker will run (depending on altitude and temperature... track conditions) between 15.30 and 14.82... 1/4 mile. With a few bolt-on's... 14.30 or better. Mopar quit makin' the Performance PCM after 2000... and added more cats. I'd look for a '99'-'00 R/T on e-Bay if you want somethin' faster.

Everywhere else being...??? If you're lookin' at Motor Trend's 'specs'... they couldn't drive a go-cart correctly. I could run 1/8th mile with this consistantly in 9 seconds on street tires. Like I said... control the wheelspin. You hammer this torqe monster off the line with stock rubber @ 32 psi 'n it'll go up in smoke. They prob'ly don't know enuff to take it outta OD for those times either.
