thats what my parents told me to do, bein in the navy i can get free help from somewhere just gotta find out where. also since my check engine lights on i thought it should be throwin a code. i dont have a scanner and cant drive it to advance auto to have them run it, isnt there a way to get the codes to show by turnin the key on and off or somethin?

i also just read on a thread a guy having this same problem with a 4.7L with it not idleing unless he kept the foot on the gas, someone mentioned it could be the iac as it can get clogged with carbon build up. anyone think this could be a problem with it and where is it?

hey guys so advance let me take their obd scanner home and use it and its throwin the code P0505 idle control system malfunction and checked it on here and they said "P0505 (M) Idle Air Control Motor Circuits A vehicle speed signal was not detected."
would this be the iac? any ideas?

well i just went and bought one, $55. Gonna put it on once my buddy gets here. Anything i need to look out for or be careful not to touch? lol

The IAC is pretty sensative, be careful not to bump the new one putting it in!

After you install the new IAC sensor, disconnect the negative battery terminal for 1-2 minutes to reset the PCM. Reconnect the cable, start the engine and let it idle (DO NOT REV THE ENGINE) until it come up to operating temp, shur off the engine and restart.

If you don't do this you'll get a high and very irratic idle when you start it up.
