Default Brake light stays on - 1997 dakota

well i have two problems
1- brake light is always on, ive checked all connectors /fuses and cleaned them. also checked the ebrake sensor and it seems fine. I dont think my truck has ABS as i dont see a pump or abs light come on ever

spedometer works good, also checked the connector for it on rear diff.

if anyone has had this problem and may know what it could be please let me know.

2- my check engine light comes on. code is P0138 which is rear o2 sensor. so i hope changing this will fix that. unless these two could be a wiring issue under vehicle towards back(i am going to check for damage to harness under truck)

anyhow any help would be much appreciated
thanks for you time

truck has no issues stopping. doesnt feel like anything is wrong with the brakes. front rotors and brake pads are new

i just bought the truck and find this annoying lol so i want to get it fixed as i hate lights on the dash and might be selling it to get a bigger truck

do you have any access to a OBD-II to plug in to your truck as there is a code that will tell u whats wrong. Provide that some thing is truely wrong with it and not just a glitch as you may call it with the light.

Is there a brake light switch on the brake pedal arm on these trucks? Or is this old school? LOL

There's a spring action switch in front of the brake pedal arm. Maybe the pedal is not pushing the button far enough to turn off the lights?

Checked your brake fluid? A low reservoir will trip the light before it affects your braking

well i changed the O2 sensor and the check engine light is off
checked the back brakes they are fine

still have the brake light on problem, i checked to see if maybe the truck did have ABS and maybe the light was dead but they are fine and i dont have sensors on the front wheels

so then i changed the abs/brake sensor on the middle of the Diff but havent had a change to see if that worked yet. i unhooked the battery to reset any codes and will hook it up and try it in the morning
