Default Question about wiper blades on a 2001

From the year 2000 FSM on page 8K – 8:
NOTE: The driver side and passenger side wiper blades are not interchangeable. The driver side wiper blade has an extra bridge and eight pairs of claws securing the wiper element. The passenger side wiper blade has six pairs of claws securing the wiper element. The notched retainer end of both elements should always be oriented towards the end of the wiper blade that is nearest to the wiper pivot.
Does this also apply to a 2001? If so, what is the functional difference (is it a matter of length?), and how important is the difference? I have a pair of OEM Mopar wiper blades which are labeled:

1-WB000021AF
_____________

21" / 535 mm

MO-021
They have 8 claws so I guess they are driver side wiper blades, but it doesn't say anything on the packaging about being for the driver side or passenger side (it might say something in the instructions, but I haven't opened them yet in case I have to return them).

If I can't use both of these, what is the Mopar part number for the passenger side wiper blade?

On my 98 both are the same. Go to parts store and get a good set of blades they will know if one side is supposed to be longer or not. I hate the claw type style I have a pair of rain x latitude blades and they are awesome. I got them for 28(on sale)

I was just looking at Rockauto.com and for the stuff they carry, it shows a 21" blade for the driver side, and a 20" blade for the passenger side, for the 2001. For example:

TRICO Part # 30200 Visionall Blade; 20" 510mm
Right

TRICO Part # 30210 Visionall Blade; 21" 530mm
Left
And:

ACDELCO Part # 84421 {#19192672} All Season Metal
BLADE,WSW DRIVER SIDE; 21 IN 525 MM, METAL

ACDELCO Part # 84420 {#19192671} All Season Metal
BLADE,WSW PASSENGER SIDE; 20 IN 500 MM, METAL
That seems to match what the FSM is saying too (because the 8-claw wiper blade would be longer than the 6-claw blade). The Mopar part number for the 20" blade is the same as for the 21" blades that I have, except the "21" is "20", i.e., 1-WB000020AF.

Factory blades are 21" on drivers side and 20" on the passenger. I've replaced mine several time with 20" both sides and they work perfect.

That's good to know, thanks. I already have a new pair of the 21" blades, so I just ordered a new pair of 20" blades, and then I'll have a set of 20" & 21" blades to put on the truck, plus an extra set on hand.

the 01's have 2 different sizes. you can get them the same length but you will just have to adjust the passenger side wiper. just remove the plastic cup covering the nut and rotate it a tad higher, or else they will catch on each other on the up stroke of the window. yes that happened to me.

I have the rain x latitude blades and IMHO they are not worth the money at all. They are good in the rain but suck in the snow/sleet/ice. There isn't as much pressure on the single blade wippers. If they were the same price I MIGHT buy them again, but seeing as they are 2 to 3x times the price of a decent set of conventional blades, I won't buy them again.

Michelin came out with a "hybrid" blade that is supposed to be a mix of both styles in one, but I haven't seen them in the store yet...

And yeah. They are 20 and 21"

I've never had any problems/complaints with standard OEM wiper blades, not until they wear out of course; but they all wear out eventually.
