Another stupid question... when I google for this size in various formats (eg. 31x10.5x16, 31/1050/16, 31x10.5-16, 31x10.5R16) I get nuthin. Not even on TireRack.com. I'm missing something. Please educate me.

Ok, now I'm really curious. Dick Cepek's site is telling me that LT265/75R16 are equivalent to 32X10.50R16. I'm already running LT265/70R16. So could I just go to the 75's and be a happy camper? Sheesh... I thought I knew about tires but apparently not.

Again, thanks for the help.
You want 31×10.50×16? Regarding the size that you are currently running:

"265" is the width of the tire in millimeters, which is 10.433070866153 inches.

"70" means that the height of the sidewall is 70% of the width of the tire, so 70% of 10.433070866153 = 7.3031496063071. To get tire diameter you multiply that by 2, and add the wheel diameter:

7.3031496063071 × 2 + 16 = 30.6062992126142.

So your cryptic metric tire size of LT265/70R16 becomes:

30.6062992126142×10.433070866153×16, or 30.61×10.43×16.

30.61" would be a typical diameter for tires that are marked as 31". To name a couple popular tires as examples, the actual diameter of a Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac 31" tire is 30.5", and the actual diameter of a BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A is 30.7".

In other words, your current tires are 31×10.50×16, minus a negligible difference in width of about seven hundredths of an inch.

I was told last night by my wife's brother that thinks he is a know it all, that my truck can't handle different tires.. ROFL.. talking about having to re-gear the *** end and everything else..

I'm like all I'm going to do is put a beefier A/T stock size more or less.. idiot..

Not meaning to hijack post, but does anyone know the offset difference from the stock rims in the photo below and the 97' stock rims?

thats because on a 16 inch rim the sizes are metric, you arent going to find a 31x10.50x16 because its not made. equivalent would be a 265/75-16. its the same width as 265/70-16, just the sidewall is 5% larger/taller. this is what i run on my 02 QC 4.7 and it fills out the fenders better, and didnt rub on mine (really close though) but i think it looks a lot better. you could also do a 275/70-16 (not as common but there still are tires made in that size) which will be 10mm wider and just a little bit taller. if it were me i would just run 265/75-16 though

The metric equivalent to a 31×10.50×16 is 265/70R16, which is what he already has. A 265/75R16 is about a 32×10.50×16.

Time to toss some gasoline on the glowing embers that was once an active thread.. I give you 325/60R15's:

They rub at full lock on the drivers side front framerail. No Torsion crank, no nothing.

My "spare" 17" rims are currently running 265/75r17's and they only kiss the mudflaps a bit. I experemented with some Procomps and have come to the conclusion that they are like Nike shoes, way to narrow, and you have to buy 2 sizes too large to get a fit. My Data points: the 31x12.50r15 on the stock rim measured within a quarter inch of the Stock 31x10.50 spare [smaller]. Yup, you read that right, the 31x12.50 tire only sports 10.25" of actual tread. In another experement, I managed to fit a Procomp Xtreme All Terrain Radial 33x12.50r17 on my truck with NO RUB AND NO CRANK NEEDED. I was going to buy a set but then I found out that their buy 3 get 1 free is a SCAM because they will only reimburse you if you paid FULL RETAIL, which, in my case, would have ment spending an extra $400 to get $350 back. Here's the link: http://www.bjsoffroad.com/procomprebate.pdf

One more data point, some rounded profile 285/75r17's also fit OK, but only in tires that aren't square like the BFG AT.
