All those with a SAS please come in.
Hey guys just wondering what the total cost of getting a SAS done ran you guys. I just got back from the garage and it turns out that all the ball joints not just the lowers are blown as well as an inner tie rod end. Which I'm thinking will cost about $1000 to fix it all at a shop and I'm really tired throwing money at this truck. So I'm trying to figure out if it would be beneficial to do a SAS based on costs. Thanks for any info guys.
It all depends on what you buy and the deals you can find.
I am starting my SAS soon. I bought my Dana 44 from U Pull It from a 89 Jeep Grand Wagoneer, which is exactly our width. $190 for the axle springs and steering.
After buying gears front and back and tons of other parts I'm at $600. My guess when all done $1,000. That is all parts, I do my own work.
Also don't forget to look at down time. My guess it will be a good week or two to fully complete it (a few hours here and there). But who knows when it comes to the steering and the driveshafts, they may need to be custom made which may take a few weeks.
In the FAQ a few posts of SAS, if you haven't already check those to see what is all needed and see if they have prices. Or just go to www.craigslist.org and other sites and add stuff up.

Its really going to depend where you get your stuff from. Some people are able to find those crazy cheap deals and others pay double. I think if you have welder and most of the tools I would say you could do it for under a grand.

hmmmm K. So anyone know of any reputable costume fab shops in the Burlington NC area? I just think that if all the ball joints have blown in a year its time to upgrade or bail haha. I pass 4 or 5 junkyards on the way to the school I work at every morning so I might have to stop by on monday or tuesday afternoon.
i know theres a shop in jacksonville that would be more then happy to do it and im sure if you bought all the parts it would be under a grand. that shop is called jacksonville 4x4 on hwy 17. idk how far jacksonville is from you tho but thats were i live.
