Default Help!? Headbolts

I'm replacing the head gasket on my 2.5 and I am having a hell of a time getting the head bolts off. I sprayed some pb on it let it soak a bit and still I can't get them off. I'm using a breaker bar and it feels like I'm going to break them off. Any tips?

Thanks.

They are going to be tight. They were put in at 110 ft lbs, 100 for #11.
You are using 1/2" drive tools? Get a bigger bar.

They will be tough. I've pulled the heads off 3 different 4.7Ls and it's never easy breaking the head bolts loose.

I finally broke them loose last night and got the head off. The gasket blew between cylinder 1 and 2. I'm sending the head to a machine shop to get it checked for warping, cracks and to get it resurfaced.

Thats a common problem on the 2.5 (and 2.2). Make sure you get all the air out of the cooling system when you get it back together and spend some money on a good quality head gasket.

Felpro makes one for the turbo version that will fit.
