Yeah. I was in Harford working at Pratt as a Co-op over the spring summer and fall. I am headed back after I graduate from RIT this spring to work as a test engineer full time.

Start with replacing little and cheap things like plugs and filters. I saw a big boost in mpg when I replaced the spark plugs.

For some reason my engine likes eating spark plugs. The electrode was warn down to the ceramic insulation.

Is your truck throwing any codes?

Exactly what ^ he said. Change plugs/wires and see what that does. Make sure your tires have the proper pressure and make sure your air filter is clean. Heres a list of things you can do.

Also, on my 4.7 I got rid of the resonator and installed a Modular Intake Tube directly to the Throttle Body from the filter box. That got me a couple MPG boost in the city and now I get up to 21 on the highway. Heres a pic of it.

'01 Dak Sport, 4X4, auto, Undercover bed cover, still mostly stock/OEM with 181k

Just filled up ('economy' tune 87oct): 15.1 mixed city/interstate

Tank before('economy' tune): 15.4 with leaking exhaust manifold and bad crank sensor

When I bought the truck it had no bed cover and was bone stock: 11-13 avg, 14-15 best on long interstate runs

Added throttle body spacer (I know I know snake oil and all that) 12-14 avg and it repeated consistently

Super chips programmer: best I've seen was one tank all but 100 miles on interstate with cruise @ 70 was 19.5 with the truck 'towing' tuned and buring 93 oct

Worst was the trip back pulling 6X10 med duty trailer with ~1800lbs of cargo: 11.3 at ~65-70

We'll see what she does with high flow precats, no third cat, and some kind of high flow muffler when I can get the $$

Ofcourse she drags bad from all the antennas on the roof too

Forgot to add: 355 gears and Micheln LTX 265-70-16's

Are these all 4wheel drives w/ the 12-14 city,17-19 highway?
Putting together a dakota quad cab 2000 4.7 - 2 wheel drive and hoping for a lot better fuel mileage then mentioned here. I drive 75 miles to work and need something I can carry my kids in. Dumping my 4 cyl ranger that only gets 21 miles to the gal.
Shoooo hope I can get 20 out of the quad cab. Not sounding good listing to you guys thou!

I got 15.9 on E10. With 50/50 split city/highway, and the occasional WOT drift around a corner, and probably 25 or more WOT runs to 55mph.
