Default 4.7L fuel mileage?

Hey did a search no luck. I just got a 2001 dakota slt quadcab with a 4.7L and an automatic trans. Did some calculations today and I'm getting about 12-13 mpg! Does that sound normal? If so any suggestions on how to get a better mpg. Thanks.

Ps its a brand new reman engine so it has new plugs, filter etc.

I get around 12-14 mpg and mine is a 4x4. Was around 15-17 until they started throwing ethanol in the gas. Sounds about right for mileage though.

Default 02 4.7 4wheel

same here although i get pretty good on freeway, city sux, Alrite I get around 14 avg between city and highway 50-50 at speed limit, with 3.55 gears and trak-lok posi, and being a lil gentler on take-off , cleaned k&n Air filter. 4.7 4 wheel drive 2002 Dakota 133,000 miles, and need a front end alignment muahahaha

14.5 in the winter. Mainly due to warming up before driving.
15.5 - 16.0 spring through fall.
89,000 miles
Mechanically it is totally stock, just have a bed cover.

This from a 2004 crew cab 4x4, with the 3.55 gears. Commuter with city congestion traffic, as well as open road, and two lanes.

I usually average around 14-15 running around the city. On the highway I can hit 21 if all is going well.

BAMF, that is what I am getting for milage, 12-14mpg. I do mostly city driving so it suffers from that. My truck was stock with a K&N filter as if that made much differnce. I now have a HiPoTek 68.5 MM TB so I'll see if that makes a difference. I'm also putting on an Ingen CAI so we'll see how it goes.

Not to get off topic but it says you're from Hartford. I'm from Norwich which is about 40 min southeast of Hartford.

Sounds about right my truck is horrible in city. Thankfully I dont drive in it too often, I normally get about 12-13 average.
