Cleaned my K&N filter today, i was getting better gas mileage with it and better throttle response but i also have to consider i have an aftermarket gear, A "detroit style" locker, i think it's just a trak-lok though, got posi at all times in a straight line, when i turn i then have only one drive wheel, was told when i bought truck it was aftermarket, Will keep ya posted on new mileage results with K&N

If you are concerned about fuel economy, then you should have gotten a Prius.

Pretty much now a days they are pretty equal. I rode Hondas for a long time, then Kawis. I liked both for different reasons. I really would like to get a Daytona 675 though. Something different than Jap bikes that everyone has. Plus they have outstanding reviews. The triple sounds awesome as well.

Any ideas for a starter bike? Like I said, I want an R6. Not too much, but still has some go go to it. I understand that a SS has a touchy throttle and will take lots of responsibility. I don't plan on killing myself but I don't want to get a severely underpowered bike and be disappointed with it right away.

Any older 600 will be fine as a starter bike. You will probably dump it... no you will definitely drop it lol. That's why I say older bike just because you don't want to scratch up a nice new bike. Anything under a 600 (example: Ninja 250,500 cbr 250) will be boring and slow after you ride it twice.

Since you like Yamaha I would say YZF600.

I'm not really feeling the whole carburetor on a motorcycle thing.

Why? They have only been FI for 6 or 7 years now. At least the Honda I know changed in 04 and I think they were one of the first. There is nothing wrong with a carb'd bike. New FI bikes have computers, cats, 02 sensors, the whole 9 yards which I don't really like. I like the fact that you push a button and it instantly starts no matter what and has instant throttle response, but other than that it's nothing special. If you do anything to the bike you have to get it tuned now just like a car which can suck and get expensive. You basically need a power commander to do anything, even just putting a exhaust on.

open up your exhaust a little bit. if you dont mind a little bit louder ride go with a flowmaster or even just a glass pack. yeah yeah ive been told its bad for your engine and computer but ive had mine on for about 3 years now and have had no problems, gained about 2-3 miles, plus i run full synthetic amsoil which gave me another mile or so

I'm not the one bitching about gas mileage.
