Are you having any issues with a brake light coming on? How about an ABS light? Is your speedometer working properly?

Sounds like the IAC is messing up, but there are a couple of sensors that supply the computer with info to control how that particular part works, which is why I asked the other questions.

For my truck its like a $30 part, so it might be worth just changing it to see...

Its the idle air control valve its on the very back of your throttle body, you can actually pull it off and try cleaning it first, it'll probley be clogged with a bunch of carbon mine went out a few weeks back and i replaced it

You need to replace the ABS / Speed Sensor thing in the top of the rear differential as well...that is why the ABS light is coming on...

The computer uses that sensor to work the IAC and if it is not working properly, the IAC will not work properly...eventually, if it gets bad enough, it will stall every time you come to a stop...

Also, as far as the IAC goes, cleaning it is at best a temporary fix. It will run great for a while, but you will find that it gets really crudded up really fast after you clean it. Its as if cleaning it does something to the surfaces and makes them more prone to collecting build up. For the money, plan on replacing it...

Another cause is low tranny fluid. Makes the tq stay in lockup mode and not enuff rpms at stop to keep it going.
