Hi,All! Seeking your expert opinion towards a very cumbersome ABS/Brake lights that appear after driving for a short time. Changed front brake disks, brake pads, brake fluid with genuine Mopar parts. It brakes fine. Diagnostic reveals a code 65, no other letters or numbers. Don't have idea what this code is related to. Also, during idle, engine accelerates and disaccelarates. Seeking your expert opinion.
Vehicle is a 1998 Dakota 4X4 Club Cab, 5.2L V-8.
Thanks!
I would start with the sensor in the top of the rear diff. It is a common issue and not very expensive. Make sure all of the wiring in the harness is good as well because that harness seems prone to breaking...
I havent replaced mine yet but im hopeing it fixes my lights from comeing on cause if it isnt that each front wheel has a abs sensor that (from advance auto) are about $110.00 each compared to the $34.00 for the rear diff sensor.

I just did my hubs...
Don't buy them from Advance if you need them...you can find them online cheaper...I got Timken hubs at Rock Auto with free shipping for like $85 a piece...
I almost guarantee its either the rear sensor or the wiring back there though...

i hope so i got a lot of plans for this weekend but i might replace mine, ive just gotten used to the lights being on so it isnt on my priority list lol
Just as an FYI - ignoring the brake light will eventually cause you bigger issues...first, your speedo will likely stop working at lower speeds...then, eventually, the truck will stall out when you come to a stop...that's what mine did anyhow...
My truck had the same issue with the ABS/Brake lights. It also got to the point where it would stall going around turns lol. So I replaced the speed sensor in the rear diff. and everything works normal. No problems.
This is really weird but friday my lights didnt come on, ive had the truck since october and they've always came on. They havent come on all weekend either so i even got to use my cruise control for the first time. Im sure i should still change the sensor but just kinda shocked at the moment that the lights are stayin off and i can use my cruise.
