A/C Compressor / clicking sound
Hey folks, long time no see.
A while back I had my Serpentine belt replaced, crank seal gasket replaced, and while they were in there, I had them remove the Clutch fan since it's essentially a heavy useless part, given that I have an Electric fan and all.
Since then, I have noticed increased performance (not a lot, but noticeable enough)... however, I now notice that my A/C compressor engages even when A/C is not specifically in use. If I have the heat on in the truck, I can hear the A/C compressor click about every 20 - 30 seconds. Doesn't matter which set of vents this is on, floor, defrost or otherwise.
I did a quick search here, but couldn't find anything specific, and checked out another forum as well, which is the first search result on Google... which mentions something about a diode that's missing. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? or where it could be?
The clicking is terrible, and loud.
Thanks,

The a/c is supposed to run in the defrost modes. It helps dry the air.
There is no diode in the system. The clutch is energized by a relay that is controlled by the PCM.
You shouldn't hear the clutch engage while on vent.
