Default new front driveshaft

finally got my new driveshaft from driveline las vegas, got it on ebay for $240 , took two weeks only because my dumb*** didn`t read the email that said i needed to measure from t-case to front diff, but anyway that thing fit like a glove and it has double u-joints instead of the stupid cv crap and a couple inches of travel, only problem was that one of the bolt holes on the tcase side was really hard to tighten cause of the outside of the u joint and the darn loctite wanted to harden to fast but i got it in with a hex bit and a quater inch wrench took like 10 mins for that one all the rest took 10 min altogether, looks good and doesnt vibrate gonna go trail ridin this weekend to try it out for real before the waranty runs out lol hope yall like it

From what I've read it's for the the NV244 transfer case, seems the double u joint binds up with all wheel drive. Was considering swaping my 233 for a 244 till my front shaft went out, all the part stores localy could only get the double shaft. But for $249 and change..................

CV joints are much stronger when at an angle when compared to a u joint. A u joint only has a fraction of it's strength when used on any angle. CV joints retain all their strenght when put at an angle. Which is why they're used for half shafts. The only reason the CV wears out is because the cheap boot they put over it gets torn and then dirt and what not gets on the bearings. CV joints get a bad rep but usually the reason it fails is because of the boot getting torn. If the boot never gets torn, the CV will last forever.

Yeah mine was completely gone. At least now I know and thanks to this forum I found my issue pretty early on.

And good job dirtpiler, let me know how it holds up for you. Mine is going strong and I sure missed my 4x4.

Yeah I wouldnt bother with it especially if you dont NEED it at this time. Motor coming along? And I've been meaning to ask, is your lower half painted or have plastic on it, or something that is protecting it?
