Default Universal Step Bumper Install?

Has anybody put one of those Westin Fey 63000 Diamond Step Utility Bumpers on their G2?

http://www.westinautomotive.com/page...FBU_intro.html

Supposedly, if you get their 93800 bracket kit, it's a bolt-up.

My original bumper is pretty badly rusted, and the Westin units are a very cheap replacement, about $115 shipped from Amazon, plus another $50 for the bracket kit. I don't mind the plain black look, it's a lot easier to touch up if it gets nicked or rusty.

I'm concerned though because my Dakota has the towing package, with the factory Class IV hitch. I don't want to get the bumper and find it won't clear the hitch, or there's no hole for the spare tire winch, or the tailgate hits it when it's down, or the bumper's too wide for the truck and looks goofy, etc.

If anybody has experience with this swap, I'd appreciate any info.

Thanks! Carl

I just put that bumper on my 03 Dakota. Looks pretty good too! I also have the tow pkg. had no problems with it. There is no hole for the spare tire winch but you don't need the hole because you can lower it in between the bumper and tailgate. If you buy it Amazon has the best price I paid $110 for it then ordered the bracket at Auto-zone for $30. Not bad for $140 total. Ill post up pics tomorrow afternoon.

Here's the pic on my 03. As you can see I left a small gap at the top of the bumper to drop the spare.

Nothing wrong with that look at all, I like it. Funny though, after several phone calls and emails, Westin finally "confirmed" that it has the hole for the spare tire hoist. Guess it doesn't!

Thanks for the reply and the pic...plus the tip about the bargain price on the brackets from Autozone. Exactly the info I was looking for!

Yep, Brian, it surely is.

If you like that plate, I'll have to take a pic of my other car and post that one too.
