The motors are out there - but the price keeps going each time I check! At this point the PTO has been removed and is sitting in the back of the garage - don't have any plans of using it on my truck. If I did I'd think a compressor might be more useful to me than a winch...

Default She runs

Added a video of it starting up - this was the first start in who knows how long - thus the smoke as it came down and idled - I've run it since and it's cleared up. Plumbed the radiator (didn't have it hooked up for this video) and am going to run it awhile to warm it up then gunk and pressure wash it and perhaps hit it with some paint.
Enjoy!

Not awesome yet - right now it's just another diesel engine running in a garage - I hope it's pretty unique when I finish it up though. Thanks for the encouragement!

Default This sounds like a sick swap!!

I'm looking to swap a 4bt into a ram 1500. I have a general idea of what i will need but does anyone have a list of the stuff because i know i'll miss so things. Also i'm hoping for it to be a 4X4 auto. Is this possible?

From a rookie as well so take it for what it's worth...
4btswaps.com is the place to go with specific questions and to see builds like the one you're looking at - pitfalls, mistakes people have made, good suggestions.
Autos seem to be challenging sometimes depending on the vintage/level of computer interface. Newer ones often require imputs from sensors that aren't always used on a stock 4bt so some experimenting is necessary, by you, or by someone who has already completed the swap - again, reference 4btswaps.com I've seen several 1500 builds on there so you should find help without too much searching. Be sure to search the stickies before questioning stuff - some are kinda sensitive sometimes about guys asking one of the common questions that get asked every other week...
Oh, and anything is possible - not necessarily reasonable(timewise or $$$$), but possible.
You have your 1500 with the auto already, right? Now it's just finding a 4bt and stuffing it in there... Then there are brake boost questions, power steering questions, cruise control issues, shift point questions, wiring issues... I'm trying to address all of these before pulling my gas motor so I don't get stuck with a big "didn't see that one coming"!
Anything specific you were wondering about?
And where in Nova Scotia? Pretty up there - been through Halifax and St John's several times on C-130's

The Ax15 is notorious for losing 4th gear. I have had a few Heeps with it in and have had to replace the it do to losing 4th on both. It starts off grinding at first then bam it's gone. I would source a NV4500 if possible which a much stronger box

Only problem with using the nv4500 is you need like a 3 in body lift because the 4500 is so big it doesnt fit in the dakotas tranny tunnel.
