I have a 2001 quad cab dakota with a 4.7. I have no fob, and have been contemplating getting one. I have used the key since I purchase the truck and the security system has activated with horn blowing when I unlock it with the key.

I did the green/orange wire cut today and have eliminated the issue of the horn blowing when unlocking the door.

Thank You very much. It will be nice not to scare deer, or other animals when I unlock the door this fall.

I don't know how people got by with out spending large amounts of money before this site came along,

Thank You All

Medic

Having a strange issue, locked the truck overnight and the horn started honking when unlocked. Seems that if left overnight or prolonged period the alarm will arm itself again?

not sure what to do know

I have a 97 Dakota with a factory alarm, it went off and wouldn't reset. I removed the rubber plug from directly behind the key lock, broke off the two wires that are on the back of the lock. I cut and striped off the two wire and wired them together and now the alarm will not arm any more...... this is my way of solving the no run problem.....

This is the Dakota section. We don't know squat about your Neon. There is a section specific to Neons though. Post your issues there, and someone should be able to help you.
