Default Seafoam Question???

I had a question regarding the product seafoam. From my understanding I have to put 1/3 in the vacuum line while running pouring it slowly, then it should shut off. Then 1/3 in the tank and 1/3 in the oil. My 2000 Dakota has 143,666 mi. on it and has never being seafoamed. My question is if it’s a good idea to put some in my oil since my truck is high on mileage and if its possible that the product can knock loose dirt and grime that perhaps were preventing leaks. I was planning to seafoam it about 100 or 200 miles before my next scheduled oil change because if I do put it in my oil I would expect it to get dirty. Any advice would be helpful and if any of you guys have seafoamed your Dakotas did u guys notice any improvements in regards to how your truck performed …. Thanks

Well my 2003 has 170,000 on it and I do a seafoam treatment once a year. I only put it in the oil prior to an oil change. You can put it in your gas any time with no worries. As far as the vacuum goes you need to give it throttle while pouring (slowly) until you don't get anymore dark smoke, if you have never done this before don't let the black smoke throw you just keep the throttle on (not w.o.l. just enough to keep it running) until around 1/3 of it is gone. Hope this helped.

when pouring the 1/3 into the vaccum line, it wont just shut off...when you get to the 1/3 part then you have to stall out it out by flooding the line with seafoam...it'll chug and stall rather quickly. i let mine sit shut off for about ten minutes and put it inside the gas tank then when i restarted the truck, i kept on the gas and kept it about 2000k rpms to clean out the engine and then took it for a ride when she quit smoking as much. shows some decent results

Never really worked for me.. I had to use Engine Tuner to actually get the majority of carbon out of my heads.. and piston tops..

Seafoam is product that you run through your engine (gas tank for all the gas lines and fuel injectors, into the oil to clean out any sludge, and the rest through a vacuum line) it is supposed to clean out any carbon and sludge buildup and basically burn it out it exits through the exhaust. it is highly recommended that you do an oil change between 100-200 miles after you use it, and run the tank of gas that it is in all the way down to almost empty before you fill it up again just to get the majority of it out of your tank. its kinda like lowering the cholesterol of your motor and fuel lines. can get it at any auto store or walmart for 6 to 8 dollars

you shouldn't stall your motor out with it.

Ive never ran it anywhere but the gas tank, always pour a bottle in then fill it up, but I also use marathon gas and it has the STP additive, so I rarely need the seafoam.

Hey All, When adding to the vacuum lines, where is the best spot to open the vacuum lines and add the Seafoam?

disconnect the break booster line from the master cylinder. it will run from that to the intake or at least that is what i found out on some webpages showing how to seafoam a car or truck
