Alright, sounds good. Well I called my mechanic friend and he was stumped, he was going to call the guys he went to school with and some old coworkers to see if they can give me some ideas.

Well I got the same problem, oil just disappeared on me last week. Lost over a quart in like 3 to 4 days with not puddles just like you. So it's in my interest to figure this one out too.

the onlthing i have noticed since the oil change just a few days ago that on start up the lifter noise is intense, sounds like a can of marbles was poured down the TB. I always had a little just like every other 4.7, but its worse now. it goes away once i start to drive, but start up its crazy.

Have you ever ran through anything like sea foam in the oil? The reason I have heard stories of people having oil get trapped up on the valves either turning into sludge or being sucked out the breather or pcv valve.

The other thing I did after I changed the pcv valve and found all the oil valve tube was run sea foam through the oil to remove deposits. I havn't seen an oil drop yet.

you have checked your pcv valve right cause that would cause a increase in oil consumption idk how since your running synthetic
Also, Amsoil claims that there is oil loss due to the vaporization of the oil.
http://www.amsoil.com/performancetests/g1971/index.aspx. Typically Amsoil oils are rated well on this. Is it important? Well, yes I can see it might be, especically in harder driving conditions, as the oil that is vaporizing is getting vented into the PCV system and that oil there, increases the octane needs of the engine unless it is captured somehow so it doesn't get ingested into the PCV valve or sucked in through the PCV vent in the intake (see how much oil is in the separator on the valve cover??) found this on another site

UPDATE:
I spent like 20 minutes talking with the one of the managers at the shop that did the install. he was just as baffled as me. he said it shouldnt be loosing that much oil and a compression test wont really give me any valuable info other than the compression compared to each cycl. he says to watch it and eventually it will start to smoke and/or oil ending up on the plugs. no good news here, still at a loss. I guess I just watch it and leave the outcome opener ended.

oh yeah, we talked about high rpms or long drives non of which we agreed should break down oil ect ect. we covered everything.
