moparman: you mention vaporizationof the oil is an option. Is there any information on maxlife oil having this problem, because that is what I am using. I would love to switch to royal purple but until I get this problem figured out I am gonna hold off.

 

idk i was doing alot of googling online about vaporizing oil and found that but at your next oil change it wouldnt hurt to try a new oil i run royal purple and have yet to have this problem but i would also look at the pcv

 

I already changed my PCV valve mine was still ratteling a little but at $3 it's not a bad idea just to replace I thought.

Mopar have you noticed any changes to how you truck runs after switching to Royal purple? How do you like it? Are you using the normal RP or the newer HRS line. Just curious.

 

ya a $3 part dosnt ever hurt to change maybe a bad batch that you both got idk and the royal purple i didnt notice any diffrence in performance or anything while running it but at 3-4k miles on it it still has some life left in it so im happy there and ive been over seas for the last year so i havnt got to try the hrs line yet the wife goes out and starts it once a week lets it run for awhile take a drive in it and parks it but once i get home ill give it a try ive put maybe 500 miles on it in the last year and that was while i was home on leave

 

1 week after the oil change its still in the safe zone. normal level now.

 

did you change anything this time from last time you did your oil change and lost the oil

 

For me no. I have only had my truck a few months and have only done 1 oil change on it.

exhaust at WOT almost smells sweet. not like burning oil that burns your nose. but it cant be coolant b.c the level is fine and no oil in coolant or coolant in oil. and im not running rich as verified by my wideband. i seriously dont know. oil level is still fine as today, 1.5weeks after last change.
