Just out of curiosity...did Dodge do anything different with the 4.7s after it's debut in 2000? I'm curious because my redline is much lower than the 2001+ models. My RPMs don't go that high in WOT.

I don't have a precise number, but it shifts somewhere in the 4k range. Even when I manually shift I don't take it past that. I was wondering if there's a reason why my gauge cluster goes up to 6000, while yours goes to 7000. I never see my RPMs climb to 5k at WOT...it usually hangs out at 3500 - 4000ish, being that my gauge goes red at 5000+

you sure you have a 4.7? lol. i know the magnums have that older gauge cluster and dont shift past 5 usually. except if you get sct tuning like ramguy and it was raised.

lol, I'm sure it's a 4.7L. I just ran the truck a few minutes ago. Yea...only shifts at ~4500RPM. My superchips can't tune shift points manually because of the year my PCM is, but I can only raise the rev limiter. I rarely see the needle past 4750. Unless, of course I let 1st and 2nd go there, but then the shifts aren't that good past 5. According to my superchips, my limiter was at 6000...I set it to 6500, though...which is the most it allows. Just looking at your video, I can just tell it's higher overall.

I dont know man, i figured a 4.7 was a 4.7. even in my non ho i was able to reach the same rpms at wot (5250). maybe the 2000's are oddballs.

Yea, idk....I thought the 4.7s were the same, also. I tried a later shift today...indeed something is different. It seems to take a little longer to climb that high...might just be perception, idk. However, the engine definitely doesn't sound like it should be going past 5k RPM, lol. I enjoyed the shifting power, though...the rear end slid every time. This is an interesting case...screw 2000! I'm gonna find a later 2nd gen model! lol
