I need new tires come fall as well, and I'm looking at General Grabber AT2's on tirerack.com . They get good reviews, and the tread looks identical to BFG's, except these are much cheaper but still great quality.

There are a lot of good all terrain tires out there, which is pretty much what you're looking for unless you want a full on snow tire.

But as for a/t tires, Cooper Discoverer At3, Toyo Open Country A/t, Nitto Terra Grappler, BFG A/t, Firestone Destination A/t... They are all good all terrains. You could go with any of them and be perfectly happy so therefore price determines what you want. I think on that list the Coopers or Nittos might be the cheapest depending upon where you go. In the fall when I get knew tires I'll be getting the Coopers. BFGs and really expensive especially with larger tires the price just seems that much worse.

The Firestones are good tires. That's what my father has on his F-150.

You say they are junk, why? At least offer an alternative.

I have Yokohama GeoLandar A/T's and they have been great. After 2 yrs still have good tread and handles water, snow & ice.
