Default New Tires

Alright I know I am opening Pandora's box with this question but I'm not sure what to get. So the I just bought the truck in march and the rear tires are new, the fronts need replacing. The truck is a 99, 2wd, and I live in Minnesota. The road I live on is dirt and not taken care of come winter. But i live close enough to pavement that that is where i do the most driving. So what tires should I be looking at? I was looking at goodyear wrangler AT and some other's. I am kinda on a tight budget so nothing over 150 please.

what size? the size will have a pretty big effect on the cost whether you run 235/75-15 or 31's or whatever that is a factor that definitely effects the price

you arent going to need anything more than 4 ply tires on half ton trucks even a ram 1500. the manufacturer put passenger rated tires on these trucks because they were more than adequate at holding the carrying/towing capacity of the truck. if you were to go to an 8 ply or 10 ply tire and load your truck to the capacity of the tire it would be overloading the truck itself, there anything over a 6 ply is not even necessary on half tons

I've gone for the sport truck look and am running Toyo Proxes ST II. Decent grip, not loud, reasonably affordable.

have fun with those toyo proxes on a low-maintenance dirt road. small tread voids plus thin sidewalls would not be what he is looking for

well not all is true about the 4ply tires most of the reason is the manufactuer did this was cost there is a big diffrence in cost from a 4ply to a 10ply i went with a 6ply on mine as i do haul heavy loads here and there and the cepeks only come in 10plys. But im saying anybody who has a full size truck and uses it for what it was built for and think they can only run 4ply tired hauling lots of weight is a fricken retard

This is what i like about this site. Discussion. What I got on there is 235/75/r15, on stock rims. I'm gonna call around on my next day off and find out what the two tire places in town have and post them. I know walmart's got the wrangeler at, and a uniroyal tire. The Liberator AT, dont know much about the uniroyal.
