Default Truck temp while towing in heat, and reducing

It is pretty hot right now here in Chicago, my truck is showing air temp to be 117 degrees on the highway right now. Of course, towing with the AC on is hard on the truck. I am wondering, where does everyone's temp gauge sit while towing? Mine is just below the right hand white dash, not quite even with the tick mark yet.

I am going to add some Purple Ice to the system later today. Other than that, is it possible to do anything else? Upgrades to the electric fan, etc?

Is there anything special as far as wiring it in that has to be done when you put the electric fan in? I'm going to be doing off roading, mud, sand, dirt.. and other such, think it will be a problem?

down here in texas, mine runs right vertical moving, if i'm stuck in rush hour, I shut it off when it gets halfway between normal and the white dash. Hot enough for concern, not hot enough to boil when depressurized (from water pump being stopped)

I ordered an HHR fan today from eBay. Hopefully that will fix my problem. I know it was running hot, I was driving with the windows down and the heat on full blast to get the temp down some but it needs more.

Hmmm, here yall are running these high temps and I have trouble getting mine warm. I live in Alabama and drive back and forth to Louisiana really regular and my needle will move up just slightly off the stop and thats where it stays. In winter it only gets warm enough to break the chill inside. WTF?!?!!?!?!?!?!!

We, maybe your temp sensor is out?

Thunder, how did you wire up the new fan?
