Slipping tires PITA
Same hear rain = slip and slid on rear tires if driving a truck I have been tempted when it rains to drop about 200lbs in sand bags in the far back of my bed for better traction it does help if hauling anything in the rain I have good traction and no slip and slid.

Those tires may of become cooked in the place they were stored before they were installed if they were stored on the top most rack for too long were all the heat goes heat rises you know that may explain the dried out tires just a guess.

yea, chunking like that = bad.
I have Firestone Destination AT's. I'm happy with them. I had a set of goodyears that were junk before.
As for rain, any pickup will get interesting in rain. I took a 90 degree lefter too fast once, back end started to come around to the outside, there's an open, unfenced field right there, so rather than let it come the rest of the way around, I just jerked the wheel right and did a WOT-dump-WOT-coast maneuver, basically went into a drift. Didn't actually leave the pavement, just made a nice sport drift about the corner.

Wow! Sure signs of dry rot in those pics. I'm shocked the tires would be in that kinda shape if they were only made three years ago.
Hell, I've had my FCIIs on since summer of '05 and they are in a lot better shape. A lot of interstate on them as my piece of farm property is 360 miles away from where I'm currently living day to day.
No signs of any chunking and to be honest, barely any wear at all with 32k miles on them. This pic was taken this spring when they had just over 30k on them.
