ok 5.2L manual when its warm i drop oil pressure. but there is no knocking like that motor isnt getting oil. im thinking that the pressure switch is bad but i wanna see what everone else thinks!!

 

i know for the 4.7 the oil pump is rpm dependent. at idle and low cruising speed its on the lower hash mark. if you got WOT and it doesnt move then you have problems.

 

Try a mechanical gauge on it and see what your pressure really is.

 

should be that way on all engines.

I remember reading on here somewhere, that if you're losing pressure at high-ish RPM, that there are blockages forming. Makes sense.

I'm on lower mark idling, and halfway at highway speed.

 

this is at idle and only after the motor is at running temp. i have changed the oil to see if maybe the oil was thinning out and no good. i put valvoline Max life 15w40 in it so i know its not thinnning out now and its still doing it. mechanical gauge says it at 35 to 40 psi at idle. and about 60 from 1500 and up even when running down the road. i also am having and issue with the clutch so im wondering if im slowing the idle down to the point the computer things it going to stall.

 

IT'S NORMAL,.. Get mechanical Gauges. Gives u a much better reading.

 

35-40 is great oil pressure at idle. At 60 psi you're fine too. Change the sending unit.

 

Everytime mine has done that was cuz it was time for oil change, and there was hardly any oil. Hallened twice before I caught kn to it. I'd check the oil
