wrong part? bad switch? once i had a 1982 2500 ram the air con went out, the contacts in the ignition switch for the air conditioner burned out. i replaced it, it happened again. so i put a relay in to carry the load for the a/c. it wasnt easy but it was really good after done.

You say "a/c resistance." We call it the "blower motor resistor." Regardless, what was the condition of the connector when you changed it? Was it partially melted? If that connector isn't on clean and tight, it can melt. The fan draws a lot of amps.

The other possibility is that the motor itself is drawing too many amps.
