H.O Engine Swap
OK guys I was occupied all weekend and now it is time to put my new engine into its new home. I'm putting a 06 H.O 4.7L into my 04 Kota. I will post result from the swap and I will try to find a camera to document this swap. Any last minute advice or words of wisdom?
well get some pics up here of the new engine i know i should of bought lol and by chance what are you doing with that timing cover off the old engine? and just take your time and do it right theres always a few things that are worth replacing now rather then when its in the truck but with the engine having low miles probley not much to worry about but if it was me i would replace the oil pan gasket and front and rear main seals cheap and easy to do while the old one is out
I will try to remember that but that might be challenging
At this point I'm think of parting out the engine. I don't wanna put a few hundred into it just to figure out that I'm not going to get most of that back... I could redo the gasket and such but honestly I leave for college on Thursday morning, I'm already pushing the envelope quite a bit by giving myself 3 nights to have this thing up and running smoothly.
I already have exhaust manifold on it so I'm guessing I should be good?

If the exhaust manifolds warping is an issue, pull them off and check. trust me its better to deal with it now than in the truck.
Both motors have the same tone wheel?
Did you drop the pan and check for any sludge buildup?
Been reading lately about the 4.7 & sludge and it seems to be a solvable problem, just not sure how wide spread it is.

Yes same tone wheel, and it has only 16k on it. My old engine had 92k and when I popped the VC it looked perfectly clean... Update old engine out, new engine is slowly going in. I'm really pushing my deadline, its gonna be close if it will be done by the time I have to leave.
