Default unknown hose

Alright guys, i need some help figuring out what something is today. I was checking the fluids and i spotted a hose that was capped and is set up against the firewall. i found a hole in the fire wall it may have come off of and then traced to the other end of the hose. It leads down along the tranny under the chassis and then runs along the frame rail right next to the fuel lines and ends at a big box right before the gas tank. NO connection to fuel lines, but there are other small hoses connected to the box as well. What the crap is this box and hose? and should it be connected to something in the engine compartment? Any help is appreciated.

Im gonna take a guess.. that must be the so called fuel filter box and that other outlet would be for another gas tank.

I dont think it touches fuel at all, it runs close but never touches the fuel lines
