Default coil springs

I have a 00 dak sport club cab w/ the 2.5 manual 2wd. My springs are worn out and I'm going to replace them. What I was wondering was can I use V6 springs? Would they stiffen up my front end any?

Smile just replaced my springs

I just replaced my 2.5 engine 98 Dakota coil springs with moog springs and they were stiffer than my old springs but I did notice a slight drop in my front end after that, kind of bothered me but a stiffer ride but way better handling in turns and just an all-around better drivability that’s nice even though I did lose a .5 inch drop from them.

Maybe because I didn’t replace the rubber coil spring dampener that’s why I lost .5 of an inch so replace the dampener also the are only $12 a piece I just could not find any at that time all online stores were out of stock wish I had just waited for them.

See the difference old and new moog springs

Wow! That's a big difference in coil. The moog has a much tighter coil over the stock.

I've got a V6, I got 2 inch lift coils and the guy accidently sent me the V8 2 inch lift coils. I didn't know, so I tried putting them in. They didn't fit, because the V8 coil is thicker than the V6, since the V8 weighs more. So there wasn't enough weight pushing down on the spring to get everything back into place. I'm not sure if that makes sense or not but if you decide to go with the V6 coils, they might not fit depending on how heavy your engine is versus the V6. Good luck!

I'm pretty sure the 2.5 weighs considerably less than then the 3.9. What I'm basically looking for is a coil that it stiffer than a stock coil. Any one know of a good brand or an interchangable part?

Default get the moog

The moog I installed is way stiffer than stock I use KYB shocks they are stiff also if you want more install new torsion links and new ball joints and tie rod ends that will help also considering yours may be a bit worn in like mine were my front end is nice and tight now.

Do you think I’m making this up

Actually I am replacing all those parts. I've already bought new upper and lower ball joints, links, inner and outer tie rod ends, control arm bushings, insulators, bilstein shocks, thicker sway bar. All I need now are the springs.

Wink I dont think you need any stiffer than the moog

Those moog are way stiffer than stock, a V6 spring may be just the same spring all you may have is 300 more Lb. with a V6 two more cylinders is not going to add all that much weight to the front end.

I would suggest calling a dodge dealership and ask parts about the springs.

Are you an off-roader or street and yes you can be an off-roader in a 2wd truck 4X4 is better but 2wd dose work.
