Time to hit low idle.
HEy all 2001 QC 4.7 4X4
My truck seems to take a long time to reach the bottom idle of around 600
The idle drops quickly above 1000 but from 1000 to 600 take time.
Is this normal, seems not, so would it be the TPS that controls this and is it adjustable my loosing the screws and turning it?
Thanks

Hey Guys still kinda have this problem, maybe I can explain it a little better. I can basically drive down the road with out touching the gas once I am going. Lets say I give it gas and start driving at 30 mpg or 50 km I can take my foot off the gas and it will still keep speed for a long time before it starts to slow. I have check both IAC and the TPS and they seem fine is there a throttle pull back spring to close the throttle after you take your foot off the gas or is it something else.

Hey Guys still a little concerned wondering if maybe it is the tranny. It never drops to low gear until I am basiclly at a stop until then it stays in second. Tranny tends to shift a bit hard wondering if maybe the filter needs to be changed or something. Tranny fluid looks good and clear doesn't smell bad.
You really have to step on the brakes to stop it but once you do the revs drop to around 600-800 and it doesn't rev up and down.

Is the engine cold?
Is the outside temp cold?
If you the answer to either is yes, I wouldn't be too concerned. If the answer to both is yes, I really wouldn't be concerned.
My car idles high, especially when its cold. Its RWD, and in the snow I can put on the brakes, and have the anti-locks kicking in up front, while the backs keep pushing, and it will just keep going forever. If I actually want to stop in the snow, I have to bump it into neutral. There is nothing wrong with the car, its just 306 HP in a small RWD sedan. When that big engine wants to idle high in that small car, its gunna push. Its not very noticeable in the summer, but when the intake air is colder, I think it raises the idle speed.

I know you already said you did, but how did you check the IAC and TPS?
In my experience with my truck, which acted basically the same compared to your description, it was the TPS. I couldn't tell that it was bad by looking at it, but when I replaced it, the truck ran fine. Also, cleaning the AIC will help if you didn't already do so
