p0201-p0208

Default p0201-p0208

I have a 01 quad cab 4.7L. Driving to work my truck started to sputter acting like I was out of gas (after I just filled up), I managed to get into parking lot and it died. Did not start back up.

I towed it home and pulled the codes I had all p0201-p0208 all injector codes.

Reading I replaced the trottle position sensor, no luck. So I figured that if all injector codes popped maybe it was because I ran out of gas. Took a guess that it may be my fuel pump spent all day today replacing the pump.

Tried to start it up and it is still not starting. Any hints, PCM? another sensor I'm missing? I can hear the new pump turning on.

Default Gas bad?

Is the last full tank of gas from the same place as usual or someplace diff?

I’m thinking bad tank of gas. I have read that if you almost run out of gas I mean so close you are running on fumes it can suck grit dirt from the bottom of your gas tank and foul up the pump.

So pump got roached that is one possibility I was told never let your gas tank get way low then gas up it stirs up the grit in the gas tank.

Ops I see you did replace the pump.

are you getting fuel/psi to the rail itself?

Maybe you did suck some grit into the gas line and pluged up the injectors.

Can you get it to a shop and have them look at it?

no I was about a 1/3rd to empty when I filled up. I always fill up and never had any problems. I asked them if anyone came in and told them of any issues andthey didn't have any complaints.

But yeah still replaced the pump thinking it was weak. Now I'm guessing a PCM. but hoping it's something else.

its really easy to remove the fuel rail, its 4 8mm bolts holding it in, remove the bolts and pull up on the rail. then remove the metal locking tab on the top of the injector that secures it to the rail. then pull the injector down to remove it. i would also recomend replacing the orings at this point. (trust me, i didnt, and ended up having to replace one outside in -F weather in the dead of winter) you might beable to see if they are clogged with dirt.

I'll check them in the morning and see if they are clogged. Would all eight hit at the same time?

im not sure. but i would check the fuel pressure at the rail first before you start taking injectors off. that will tell you if the flow is messed up.

it's highly unlikely that all 8 injectors will go bad at the same time. P201-208 indicate an injector driver problem, i.e. the PCM not being able to control the injectors

I have fuel to the rail and good pressure. Still not starting. I'm starting to think my PCM is out getting one tomorrow a refurb. Says I need to program the VIN into it do I have to go to the dealer to do that? crossing my fingers this will work. Or it's off to the dealer to figure out.
