Default small idle surge during complete stop

New here, I tried to research but couldn't find anything. I have a 2000 Dakota quad cab sport with 118k miles. Runs good, no CEL but it has one issue of when I come to a complete stop, just as I'm about to completely stop, I get a little idle surge or rev, only about to 900-1000rpms, but its kind of annoying. Is this normal, or do I have something going on? Here is a crappy youtube video with my phone. It does this everytime I stop. The truck idles fine, I just put in a new TPS to get rid of an erractic idle, but this is totally different. Any ideas? Thanks

it still seems pretty smooth, no vibrations, just a little surge due to the rpm spike, but since I'm already braking, it doesn't really affect anything

Take your foot off the break and give it no gas and see if it has any kind of vibrations.. like the truck shake shake shake..

Don't know if this will help or not but..... I had an 04 colorada awhile back. I had this same problem anytime i went in reverse, or came to most stops. I took it to chevy and they said it was a bad throttle body. Replaced it and i never had the same problem again. Don't know if its related or not but good luck.

Default throttle position sensor

throttle position sensor may need replacing they are cheap and easy job need torex bits thats all.

or it may be the Idle Air Control (IAC) Valve not so cheap but still easy to replace torex needed.

But the Idle Air Control (IAC) Valve housing may be gooped up with black soot so you may need to pull off the throttle body and clean it out with some carb spray I swapped my throttle body with a larger one and on inspection of the replacement that was a used part the Idle Air Control (IAC) Valve housing was very gooped up with soot black gunk.

I just put on a new TPS, so I'll look at cleaning the TB and see if that will make a difference.

The TPS did take care of my idle issue that I had.

jondakotaguy - can you explain further, I'm not sure when to let the brake off- either while I am braking or off of idle

Off of Idle; from a dead stop.. or just creeping; might not have the problem but I'm finding by asking the question many actually do.. so just throwing it out there.. to chekc and see if you got the symptoms..

Default yea that junker part was gooped up

yea that Junker part was gooped up with a heavy layer of soot it took a lot of carb spray to clean it out and used qtips to get inside it and rub it all out best is if you have the special locking torex bits and pull that housing off to clean it out.

Be very careful to not damage the gasket you will need it

The IAC itself is also cleanable. Just did it to mine a few weeks ago and it made a dramatic improvement on idling and smoother acceleration. Use carb cleaner, rags and q-tips. Only caution is do not push in or pull out on the sensor. It will mess it up and you'll have to buy a new one at that point. As 98DAKAZ said, also clean out the housing thoroughly...
