I guess the magnet is a good thing

How does it shift with the new fluid? Any change?

Default how did it look the oil?

Did your oil look burnt or black?

Was it low on oil?

That looks like a lot of metal shavings to me I have never had anything like that come out of my trans in fact I never see even close to that usualy I see nothing on my plug.

But you have the V8 and I have a 2.5L so more power more force I guess.

Default V6 ok not V8

That sounds a tad low not sure what to say on that but maybe change the oil in one year and see if you get the same metal shavings if so you may have a problem going on.

Dose that trans have an oil cooler on it some do I think I could be wrong.

Yes this is GEAR OIL GUYS the 75 - 90 not the 75 - 140

Read this test on gear oils http://www.synthetic-oil-tech.com/Ge...te%20Paper.pdf

GEAR OIL WILL DESTROY A NV3500! You do not have a NV3500, therefore your info is irrelevant.

I like to fill the tranny by removing the shifter, this also allows me to use 3 quarts. 202k miles, last 22k+ behind a boosted 5.2 and it's holding up great.

OP, for that many miles, the magnet looks pretty normal.

No 98, there's no cooler on a manual transmission.

Default According to the factory specs I have a NV3500

How/ why would you remove the shifter to add trans oil?

Red face ok

I’m not arguing with anyone my specs call for of all things GL-3 not GL-4 or even GL-5 but I called tons of people on what I could use in my trans and Mobile 1 they said its fine for my trans even if it calls for GL-3 like my trans does so for 4 years I have the stuff that destroys my trans but it shifts great I have no problems with my trans at all... am I just a very lucky kind of guy maybe.

Or maybe people are wrong on using GL-5 in a GL-4 only trans I think it depends on is it synthetic if yes you are good to go Mobile 1 is synthetic

If anyone is freaked out stick with what you want I’m not forcing anything on anyone just my opinion and what I have used and works for me

Use what you want and what you feel safe with.
