Hiroshima size drive train explosion

Hiroshima size drive train explosion
Well, i had been hearing a "clicking" & "ticking" noise for a few months under my 2000 QC Dakota 4.7 4x4. I changed both front wheel bearings over the last year and then changed the driver side cv axle a month ago, with no luck stopping the noise.
Yesterday, while driving 75 mph on the expressway, the transfer case literally "exploded" with 65% of it disappearing in atf fluid and a cloud of smoke. The transmission had a softball size hole above the pan and the front diff is shattered, i removed the front drive shaft with one hand and no tools as it dangled there.
This is a great truck, but has 215,000 miles and now needs a front diff, trans, transfer case and maybe a front drive shaft, but it looks good.
A guy has a trans/transfer case and torque con out of a 2002 dodge 1500 that had a 4.7 in it with supposedly 64,000 miles on it listed of craiglist for $350. This would give me 2 of the 3 parts i need to repair it.
Will a 2002 with a 4.7 engine, trans and transfer case out of 1500 mate to my 2000 with a 4.7?
I know by 2002 the transfer case handle was not on the floor but electronic.
Also i think there is something about 2000 having 16 teeth vs. 32 teeth on most others but not sure what this means.
Is my truck now best for parts or the junk yard since the damage is so extensive and the motor is original and also has 215,000 on it?
Just want some ideas and opinions, I really love my mortally wounded dakota.
thanks

A couple of issues,
Yes, the tone rings. 16 on your 2000, likely 32 on the 2002. The PCM's are not compatible, and you can't just swap in the latter either at the connectors are different. Look at your truck it will have 3 connectors, the Ram likely 4.
How do you plan to shift the transfer case? You can't just put in the electronics from a 2001 up version, Chrysler changed the computer bus in 2001 as well. It's not compatible with your 2000.
IMHO, find another Dakota to swap parts from. Even if you buy a "parts" truck you'd be ahead of the game.
