Default Rattle, Rattle, Tick, Tick.........HELP!!

99 Dakota 3.9 - I have a terrible rattle, tick when driving the truck. I don't have the noise in park but only driving?? It is coming from drivers side top end. Is there a way to test the truck under "load" without driving it?

uh ya... hold your foot on the brake while in drive and give it a little gas... Check for a broken exhaust stud.

If it is a 4x4 you could putt the t-case in neutral then you can putt it in gear eith out it moving. But their in not much load on the motor.

doesnt matter if the transfer case is in gear or not... The brakes will win the battle...every time...

Angry Tick Tick - Leak!!

Guys!! I $#%@ up BIG TIME!!! Drilled a bit too far in removing the bolt and got antifreeze coming out. It's dripping out but man did I mess up!!!

Any thoughts? I have another head I could replace with but really didn't want to take the top end of my engine off.

It's a GREAT DAY!!!

When you reinstall the bolt, seal it with red lock tight it should seal the antifreeze leak.
Red is a high temp and it may work. You may have problems removing the bolt next time tho.

I'm going to give the lock tight a try tomorrow. Have I caused any long term damage?
