I have't seen any rust at all in the bed of my truck and I have been doing it for the last 6 years. The guy that I bough the truck from had the plastic bed liner and stuck a rubber liner on top of that, but as long as the bags don't get any holes in it I never noticed any salt residue. This is the first year that I have't done it because I'm short on money. I'm a poor married college student.

Ahh I see, I figured salt would rust out the bed, but if youve got a liner and rubber liner underneath you should be good to go. Sand is cheaper anyways no?

@Instant Classic- That is ingenius. I think I am going to follow that route. Would it not be safer and easier to simply remove the stock air box andhave the pipe and filter in the engine bay? Warmer air in there yes, but that way it will be safer to keep the elements off it.
