how to remove a dakota back window?
Well I've removed windows on hard tops for jeeps before but I've never replaced the entire frame and window on anything. I'm trying to figure out how to remove the frame and windows for the rear window on a 2nd generation dakota. What I read said about pealing thr weather stripping back. But I'm lost. How do I remove the window and frame? Thanks

I've never done it(I think its pretty simple) you need to remove the weather stripping then there is like 6 metal tabs that hold the window to the cab. You need to bend those up and might even have to get a long blade to break the seal of the glue that holds your window in.

I've heard cut the weather stripping and then push out from the inside. But with how much glue there is holding the window in you need to get some sort of knife to cut the glue. Its not a simple job you can break the glass easily. Depending on what your problem is My insurance covered my rear window.

Im saying taking the old window out you can pry and not worry about messing it up. The one you are going to get from a yard or whereever you will have to just take a bunch of tools and see what you can do. You can find a yard that will pull the window for you too. Prob a little bit more cash but you dont have to really worry about trying to get it out. I have my old window from my truck in my garage. It was removed from safelite but doesnt look to easy.

It's all one piece. The frame and the window are molded together.
Your not gonna be able to save the frame or the weather stripping.
When you buy your next window,.. It's gotta be new. It's next to
impossible to remove the window on our trucks without messing
up the weather stripping. I know, I've done it. It's not like the front
glass or other rear windows like on ford pick ups or chebbys.
