Default PCV Valve

Replaced my PCV Valve recently and at idle you can hear my PCV Valve chattering like crazy. Has anyone ever experienced this?

Default you sure

You sure it’s the PCV making the noise if it is you have another problem going on especial if you can hear it don’t you also have a breather on one of your valve covers maybe that’s clogged up and needs replacing also?

Grab one of the manuals on the forum and look.

What engine do you have?

I've had the chattering PCV before. I was recently using an oil catch can on the PCV hose. I took the catch can off and the chattering stopped. I assume the catch can or one of it's connections must have had a small enough vacuum leak not to cause the engine to run bad but just enough to upset the PCV.

Its the 3.9 and my old one was so filled with crud I wouldn't have noticed it on that one. I replaced it with a new one and this started. There is another port that runs into the other valve cover opposite of the pcv. Is that what you are referring to as the breather?

Go to the dealer.. my 5.2L has many chatters with the over the counter ones; mainly plastic versions and even if you match up one of the metal version.. as soon as slapping one from the stealership in bah-wamm.. no more chattering and a hell of a lot less oil coming through..

Default Suggestion to all

Suggestion to all this last 5 months I did a marathon Dakota checkup and upgrade crawled under my Dak and inspected everything under the sun then spent all that time replacing all my vacuum lines any hoses lines you name it to head off any potential problems.

I found a number of potential problems and did the needed repairs upgrades and replacements so now I don’t worry about my truck so much.

When your auto is 12 years old you are going to have a number of needed repairs either going to happen or in the process of happening if you catch the problems before they happen you will head off any headaches.

Default not needed looked good

Didn’t replace the hard plastic lines just all the soft lines elbows so on found a few close to rotting out on me all cracked and deformed.

Make sure what you replace the lines with can take the heat and chemicals some tubing can some not.

Some of the hard plastic lines are kind of too long not sure why that is but I have the 2.5L Dodge probably just used the lines for the V6 or V8 to save money

Replaced all my flex brake lines power steering lines I replace everything I could and it’s not that pricy to do well some can be pricy
