Yeah, they need to be pressed out and the new ones be pressed in. You may find ways of getting the old ones but good luck getting the new ones in. It's worth it to have them pressed. NAPA will do it if you bring them the control arm for like $5 a bushing. We have a press at work so I did it there.

Do you need those bushings replaced make sure because they are a major pain in the *** to replace if they are cracked a little bit they are still probably just fine those bushings are two inches deep of rubber.
You only need to replace them if they are sloppy or you can see that they are moving around.
All to many people just think they need to replace them they look old and cracked but those things are very thick and durable.

you had a bad one
Sounds like you had a bad one all right but beware all to many auto shops will tell you they are bad why they want your money it’s a con job I went to a shop to get an alignment and they wouldn’t do it saying my bushings were bad what a joke I just replaced all my ball joints and installed new coil springs so I know they were not bad.
So beware of shops claiming you need new bushings

That's true with anything though. You to have a water pump replaced and they say you need a new fuel... completely unrelated but a lot people don't know that so they fall for it.
I have a business ethics class as an elective and we went over a case were Sears received bonuses for the amount of work they got. The gov't sent in 300 people to have brakes replaced all over the country and 80% of them were over charged and told they must replace other parts even though the people taking them to the shop knew the car only needed brakes. People we being changed an extra $200-$300 on AVERAGE. Sears got caught because they're a big company. All the little shops won't ever get caught because nobody is watching them.
Sorry to digress from the OP, don't want to jack your thread.
