Default Fuel tank rollover valve

Can this be removed/replaced on the 2002 Dakota? Can it be resealed?

Default I would not change a thing

I think screwing with the gas tank is not a good idea except to fix it to what it should be stock setup.

Dont play with fire you just may get burned

I'm not sure on a 2002, but in 2000 and 2001 you had to replace the tank as they're integral.

That sure looks sealed to me. How about just picking up another tank from the boneyard?

The FSM shows it as non servicable - but then again they say the same about balljoints and control arm bushings. I think I am going to try to drop the tank this weekend and see if I can find out for sure if there is a leak. Maybe some epoxy around the area? Kind of nervous about junkyard tanks - they could have issues too. But the more I think about what's going on with my truck - the more this seems to be my issue.
- Fuel Pressure drop after sitting for a while
- Evap leak
- Low mpg

According to the FSM the fuel pressure drop to 0 is normal on a cold vehicle. Once you turn the key the system pressurizes.

The evap leak, could be cracked lines.

Low MPG, any codes? How are your 02 sensors? How many miles?

I am thinking that if there is a leak with the gas tank that it may be the pump may be sucking air when it is sending fuel to the injectors

I have replaced just about every hose on the evap system

I am getting about 10mpg - O2 sensors are both new.

110,000 miles

What codes are you showing?

I'd be looking at the MAP sensor next.

I have the 456 code. I have for 2 years now. I know on the older dakotas you could remove the roll over valve. Im sure you can on these too. Worst thats gonna happen is your gonna break it. I dont know if you take the fuel pump out can you reach it? That might help you in removing it.
