If you want serious input on oil, try this site. But be warned, they are not fans of K&N filters.

Good info but one of the ugliest forums ever created munchkin text size you need a damned magnifier just to read it layout is horrible.

Web design from the dark ages frustrating to use.

Any oil works fine with regualr changes, same goes for filters. I run whatevers cheapest when i get oil, 10/30 conv. I always run a quart of lucas too

Yeah honestly that's what I do, there's always something on sale.

I've been running 10w-30 valvoline synblend since 73,000 miles. Now 95k not a lick of problems and I do abuse my truck!!

My Dakota runs on used Canola oil and no it does not smell like french fries.

Wow That's so nice I've read your conversion when my engine trow away maybe I will swap it..??? Do you actually have it 4wd...?? Sorry but I skyjacked this thread

I started a thread " stronger torsion bars", maybe move over there.
No I had to scrap the front diff to get oil pan clearance.

+1, it's whatever you prefer.

Some people swear by Mobil, others Castrol, others Quaker State, etc, etc... As long as it's API certified and you change it with proper intervals (Less than 5k miles with conventional, less than 10k with synthetic), you will be fine. Some people think they need the most expensive thing on the self and others will use Supertech with Fram filters and have the same result. Whatever you like or feel comfortable with.
