Default Dakota won't start, but honk horn and it starts right up!

I have a new twist to this old problem. I posted this a while back about it dying and not starting, and I had found that it's losing fire when it won't start. But today we found out that while cranking it trying to get it to start, if he honks the horn it fires right up. Anyone had this problem?
I removed the air bag assembly and I'm having him drive it for a few days to see if it does it again. If not I think we've narrowed it to the horn or air bag assembly shorting out.

Thats weird i'd say its a bad ground, when i got my dakota it was after hitting a pole and some grounds were disconnected when i hit the horn the signal light and the wipers came on, found the ground and everything was normal

I've chased the grounds and can't see anything that looks odd. If it messes up again I think I'll make some new grounds and just add some extra ones.

That IS weird....I haven't had that problem. I did pop the hood the other day and the toilet flushed in my house though. Never did figure that one out.

Sorry....couldn't help it.

In chasing the grounds did you remove them and clean them up at all? If its not a constant problem could just be some dirty grounds

That a good idea, this problem has been plagueing the owners for about 4 years now, and they have replaced about everything there is to replace. It now belongs to the son and he is a young guy that helps a bunch with the youth at church, so I've been trying to help him get this figured out. The truck runs awesome when it runs right, if we can just get the little bug out it. lol....
Thanks for all your help guys!!

but yes definantly check the grounds, and u may need to just make your own and see how it acts after that. this is very strange.

Seems to me a little tap on the horn in this weather beats sitting in the cold. Seriously I have a horn problem that surfaces when the steering colum is totally tightened up, has been there since I bought the old Dak. Something is pinched somewhere for me. For your problem I agree that is very strange I don't see any way the horn is connected to the CPU. Also I would carry a fire extinguisher in the cab until you find the problem, we dont need any crispy critter reports!
