2000 dodge dakota sport 4x4 problems
hi, just want to open by saying what i great forum this is,
I baught a 2000 dodge dakota sport 4x4 for $1000.00 because my body was bugging me to buy one so we could go 4x4ing, i got the 4.7ltr v8 magnum, first problem,
Problem 1: when starting truck there is a slight tapping sound, on acceleration it gets alittle louder, i have been reading alot of forums stating it could be a litter has fallen off, to a bolt broken on the manifold?
i was told to put in lucus motor oil and then top up with my regular oil will this help with the noise?
Problem 2: my power windows and door locks don't work when pushing the bottun up or down nothing happends but a clicking noise in the glovebox?
any help would be greatly appreciated,

Both the power windows and the door locks receive power via a circuit breaker, should be #20. Open the driver door and look on the lower part of the dash and you'll see it.
It may have failed. You can test it with an ohmmeter.
The tapping noise, is it worse hot or cold? It could be an exhaust leak, especially if it goes away as it warms up.
How is the oil? It can't hurt to change it and replace the filter while you're at it.

i have left it running for 10-15 mins and it still does it, so about the doors and locks is it one relay? or one fuse? i do not believe it's an exhaust leak i have hade it up on a hoist and there is no leak anywhere.
if it gets louder the faster you going and the more you accellerate it could deffinatly be a cracked exhaust manifold...happened to one of my old trucks.
okay well that covers the windows and door locks, any more idea's on the enigine? all the reading i have done is eather let go lifter, oil intake pump, but is has good oil pressure, so any other ideas would be great
Have you checked the exhaust manifold yet like others have said? If that's not it I would say you are looking at having to take off the valve covers, and the drivers side is a PITA. It's like one of those little brain teaser puzzles. Come's out only one way.
Smoke testing it would possibly be able to help you if the crack is large enough.

it's not the manifolds it sounds more top end, i'm gunna be taking the heads off to check the lifter's, the other day i checked my oil and there was like a creamy white/yellow line on the dip stick what could this be? bad oil? bad filter? water in the oil?
